Abstract

To the extent that the area of stimulus equivalence has been developed, some studies began to be conducted to investigate the conditions under which equivalence relations already established could change or be lost. Many of these studies involve reorganization of equivalent classes, that is, after the formation of classes, recombine relations baseline trained between stimuli, allowing new conditional discrimination leading to the formation of new equivalence classes. The relevance of these studies is due to the fact that although the formation of classes of equivalent stimuli will be used as an effective procedure for teaching skills such as reading, writing and mathematics, studies suggest that this same process involved in learning productive and desirable behaviors can be related to clinical problems such as anxiety. There are also studies investigating the behavioral phenomenon called upwelling using procedures that involve the reorganization of classes of equivalent stimuli. These studies generally manipulated variables consequential contingent responses to the issue of equivalence classes consistent with more recently trained and verified the effects of these manipulations on the resurgence of previously trained classes. The results generally show that by negative feedback, there resurgence of equivalence classes previously trained, but under termination, the newly trained classes are retained. In this paper, the issue of antecedent variables consistent responses to the equivalence classes will be handled in order to verify the effects of contextual control over reorganized equivalence classes.
