Transversal and longitudinal studies of an instrument of vocational interests

Abstract

The aim of this study is to show other validity evidence and new studies of reliability of a test that evaluates occupational interests, called Escala de Aconselhamento Profissional - EAP. Among the specific objectives, there is the search for evidence of predictive validity for EAP based on the criterion variable course/profession post-High School, and the purpose of relating occupational interests to other variables, such as occupational self-efficacy and career commitment. The research which has a drawing longitudinal will have approximately 170 participants. Part of the necessary data has been collected. They were obtained with students who answer the EAP when attending High School in School 1 (application school with average performance in ENEM) between 2008 and 2011. The second data collection using the EAP will be collect in 2012, with the third-year students of School 2 (private school with superior performance in ENEM) and School 3 (public schools with lower performance in ENEM). Students will be asked to complete the measure in the classroom. In the year 2013, all High School graduates who participated in the previous steps will be contacted to respond again to the EAP and the other three measures so presence. It is noteworthy that studies to evaluate the predictive of psychological assessment tests can contribute to research in the area, as well as assist psychologists who use tests in their professional practice.
