Abstract

Weigh that Antonio Carlos Gomes is a significant figure of the Brazilian Second Empire and his music, especially opera, has achieved great success because of the versatility in introducing in his work the characteristic elements mainly Italian composers such as Mascagni, Verdi, and also Wagnerian elements. This project aims to discuss, analyze and interpret the written by Antonio Carlos Gomes in his Maria Tudor, in order to address the psyche of the character and features of the vocal technique used to express such. Having also been interested in studying the inclusion of Carlos Gomes Italian operatic scenario and his concern with the opera language. Given a possible inclusion of research within an existing line: The study of immigration of Italian opera - Study Group - IMLA, the goal of this project is to seek careful study of the historiographical context in which the work is Maria Tudor inserts and further analyze the way in which Carlos Gomes represents the state of Maria Tudor's psychological character, and seek to situate the composer to a historical context that notes tropes, topical and rhetoric, in other words, all language contexts which will be articulated in. The study will be conducted under the guidance of Professor teaching. Dr. Machado Neto Diosnio by USP (Universidade de São Paul) from Ribeirão Preto, with readings of books, scores analysis, and listening to recordings as main drivers of this vehicle study.(AU)
