Abstract

Endometriosis is characterized by the presence of tissue morphology and biologically similar to the endometrium in locations outside of the uterine cavity. Its etiology remains unknown and several theories have been proposed to explain the mechanisms that lead to disease, in which the most accepted is the Sampson theory. However, studies show that several biological processes may be related to disease and, therefore, many studies are performed in order to analyze the gene expression profiling of endometriosis. Such studies propose the comparison of gene expression in endometrial tissues of women with and/or without endometriosis. Because of the wide variety of parameters in these studies, their results often have disagreements. For better reliability of these results, it is important that they be compared, analyzed and related. Therefore, this project proposes the development of a system in a web environment able to store, retrieve, compare and relate these results to gather the most relevant data to changes in gene expression in endometriosis and contribute to a better understanding of the disease etiology.(AU)
