Abstract

In the 1970s and 1980s, the process of productive restructuring promoted an increase in unemployment in the countries of Western Europe and the United States, considering the replacement of the workforce with new production technologies. In conjunction with these changes in production, state policies aiming to deregulate labor rights have been implemented, expanding the forms of domination and exploitation of labor. This new social configuration arrives in Brazil in the late 1980 and early 1990, affecting the livelihood of the country, as well as the sociological interpretation of that situation. This result extended the debate about the concept of social classes and social stratification. In this sense, the research project presented here aims to perform bibliographical research and mapping of the Brazilian academic production in the 1990s, verifying how the European and North American debate about the "end of social classes" was spread by Brazilian sociology. Finally, please note that this research project is linked to the project "Social Class and Value in Contemporary Social Theory", coordinated by Prof. Dr. Henrique Amorim and funded by FAPESP (Process n. 2011/23506-1).(AU)
