Abstract

This research project for a scientific stage aims to investigate the intermetallic compounds using synchrotron radiation techniques. The project involves the study of structural and magnetic properties using spectroscopic techniques and measurements with application of high pressures. In this stage, the student will be collaborating with the "Magnetic Materials Group" of the Advanced Photon Source (APS - USA) under the scientific supervision of Dr. Daniel Haskel. The student will perform the experiments in his samples with techniques that are not yet available in Brazil. The investigated samples are compounds of the Remeika type (Eu3Ir4Sn13), clathrate compounds (Eu8Ga16Ge30), and the compounds GdCo2Zn20 and SmIrIn5. The beamtime will be obtained through submission of proposals to the General Users Proposals (GUP) of APS. (AU)
