Abstract

The clinical trial suggests that cancer patients show more often multiple symptoms, which include fatigue, sleep disorders, pain and depression, and this set of symptoms are directly associated to the worst functional state or the decrease in quality of life. The objectives of the trial are a) evaluate the fatigue, sleep pattern and quality of life in children and adolescents with cancer; b) describe the relationship between fatigue, sleep patterns and quality of life in children and adolescents with cancer. To that end, we will perform a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study. The participants will be children and adolescents with ongoing cancer at a public hospital in the countryside of the state of São Paulo. We will use an instrument to measure the fatigue (PedsQL "Multidimensional Fatigue Scale"), two instruments to evaluate the quality of life (PedsQL" Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory, Generic Core and Cancer Module" and a device to evaluate the sleep and wake patterns (Wrist Actigraph). To analyze the data, the descriptive statistic and Pearson`s correlation coefficient will be used, to comply with the objectives "a" and "b" respectively. (AU)
