| Associated to the scholarship: | 11/11208-6 - FORMS IDENTIFICATION AND GEOMORPHOLOGY PROCESS IN THE PEIXE RIVER FLOODPLAIN: THE ROLE OF NATURAL AND MANMADE AGENTS IN YOUR EVOLUTION, BP.DR |
Abstract The project aims to analyze the fluvial dynamics of the Peixe River in the State of São Paulo with use of remote sensing and aerial photographs. Peixe River exhibits a meandering channel in the reach 60 km upstream of its confluence with important geomorphological features like paleochannels, fluvial terraces and oxbow lakes. The identification of the geomorphological setting on decadal scale seeks to show characteristics of channel, floodplain and fluvial terraces. Landsat images, SRTM data and aerial photographs will be utilized to compose a Geographic Information System. The purpose is to investigate limits of channel, floodplain and fluvial terraces, determine type and variation over time of bars, channel dynamics, spatial distribution of paleodrainage and others features of the fluvial system.
