Abstract

Agile methods have impacted software development by promoting several changes on how software is developed. The agile values, principles and practices heavily focus on fast delivery of value to customer and encourage the sharing of tacit knowledge within the team. However, agile methods provide few guidelines on how to handle this across teams. This doctoral research aims to investigate how agile software organizations employ inter-team knowledge sharing. Since 2010, we are conducting studies with qualitative inductive grounded theory in corporate environments, and action research in academic environments. The main research contribution is a conceptual model that explains how the effectiveness of the knowledge sharing process among agile teams depend on organizational conditions and stimuli, along with the implementation of people-oriented practices with specific purposes.
