Abstract

The major aim of this study is investigate the role of iNOS in endoplasmic reticulum stress, using mice with selective deletion of the gene encoding iNOS fed a high-fat diet for 3 months. Additionally, this effect will be evaluated in animals fed high-fat diet and treated with a selective blocker of iNOS. Thus, we will investigate the role of iNOS on insulin sensitivity through the insulin tolerance test and hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic CLAMP, and the expression/phosphorylation of insulin signaling pathway and endoplasmic reticulum stress proteins.
