Abstract

The nursing staff is exposed to chemical, physical and biological agents during the development of their activities. Occupational exposure to biological fluids is enhanced due to indirect contact with blood and secretions, in performing invasive procedures and direct patient care. The nursing care favors the risk of industrial accidents and worker exposure to the nursing body fluids that may contain different pathogens causing diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B and C. The worker was injured after suffering with biological material, psychological and emotional changes related to the uncertainty of the patient's diagnosis and the lack of information about your health history. Added to this the expectation of serological tests and the possibility of seroconversion have been generating anxiety about the possibility of being contaminated. This study aims to understand the experience of nursing workers who had accidents with biological material during the process of working through the phenomenological qualitative research. Will be interviews with nursing staff who were hurt and to reveal the phenomenon will be held the following question: "How was it for you to have crashed with biological fluid during your work?" Understanding the experience of nursing staff who were injured and exposed to biological fluids may reveal the direction of the accident to the worker trying to make them more authentic and reflective about their practices, and provides subsidies for the development of measures to protect workers' health to minimize the risks to which the team nursing is exposed, indicating the possible gaps in the process of nursing work that may favor the occurrence of accidents.
