Abstract

The professional perspective of an individual is important because synthesizes their aspirations from the choice of course and determines how it conducts its studies in the academic period, as his career plans, directs and their interpersonal relationships and how has its role in society. The objective of this study is to investigate the reasons for choosing the course and job prospects of students of Dentistry, FOP / UNICAMP. This is an observational study, with a cross and another step of longitudinal follow. In the first stage (section) shall apply in the classroom at the end of the semester of 2012, a self-administered questionnaire to students of all years (1 to 4) containing the following variables: age, gender, nationality, the reason for the choice of the dental clinic; opinion about the purpose of Dentistry; professional perspective - service type where you want to work (public and private), reasons for choosing the type of service, type of clientele you want to meet (low and high income); intention to attend expertise - and expertise required pretension. The longitudinal step consists of applying the same questionnaire to freshmen in 2013, which respond to the questionnaire in all years of graduation to verify a possible association of the choices of the same curriculum with the flow of the institution. The discursive responses will be analyzed by the technique of discourse analysis, which allows the categorization of them for statistical analysis. The data will be processed by SPSS (17.0), with responses expressed as absolute numbers and percentages. The statistical test is applied to prove adequate to the findings, with a significance level of 5%.(AU)
