Abstract In this project, we consider a hamiltonian model of the drift motion to investigate the chaotic transport of particles in the edge of confined plasmas in tokamaks. The hamiltonian model provide the motion equations, which are dependent of a function of the electric potential. This function is characterized by an equilibrium potential and term corresponding to the drift waves. In this project, we adopt a profile for theequilibrium potential which violates the so-called "twist" condition. We intend, therefore, to study typical properties of non-twist hamiltonian systems, as, for example, the formation of transport barriers and the presence of reconnection processes. The secon goal of this project is to analyse the effects of Larmor radius on the transport. These effects are relevant in the case of energetic particles or in the presence of rapidly varying fields. | |
