Abstract

Introduction: The two-minute walk test (2MWT) has been taken for evaluation of functional capacity in chronic pulmonary diseases, but there is no reference values for its use. Objective: To establish a reference equation for prediction of distance walked in two minutes in adults and elderly healthy and to test the reproducibility of the 2MWT. Method: XXX subjects with the age between 18 and 89 years, of both genders, without a history of cardiorespiratory disease, neuromuscular or musculoskeletal will be assessed. On a visit the subjects will undergo to spirometry and two 2MWT (30 minutes a part). The heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, scores for dyspnea and leg fatigue will be recorded at the beginning and at the end of tests. Expected results: The regression equation derived from this study will be used as a reference to determine the percentage of the 2MWT performed by patients with chronic diseases.
