Abstract

Due to the National Policy to Encourage Sustainable Management and the Cultivation of Bamboo, according to Law n 12,484 in September 2011, to encourage research and technological development aimed at the sustainable management, cultivation and application of bamboo, their stages of processing and marketing of products derived from bamboo it is necessary to research that issue. The present work aims at characterizing the physical and mechanical testing including density, moisture content and tensile strength in bamboo blades with and without finger joints, of the species Dendrocalamus giganteus, from the agricultural area of UNESP / FEB. There are two types of adhesives used for the tests in finger joint, the adhesive Fastbond SikaBond with low environmental impact. The results obtained allow a comparison between samples with and without finger joints. Furthermore, a comparison was made between adhesives. The finger joint drive efficiency of the connections and can be applied in various components of the construction industry, eg in the production of floors, facades, doors, windows, such as bamboo material.
