Abstract

Porphyromonas gingivalis is associated with chronic periodontitis and as an infectious agent can affect pregnancy by deregulating physical homeostasis. This study aims to contribute to the understanding of the relationship between infection with P. gingivalis and changes in pregnancy. The effect of experimental periodontal disease induced by P. gingivalis HW24 D-1 will be examined in female mice C57BL6 Black. It will be evaluated maternal weight gain, weight of the fetus, the presence of the pathogen in biofilm samples, blood, serum, tissue overlying the maxilla, liver, lymph, faeces, fetus, placenta and amniotic fluid by real-time PCR. Alveolar bone loss will be analysed by microtomography. Inflammatory markers serum IL1-², IL-6, IL-10, PGE-2 and RANKL will be evaluated by ELISA. (AU)
