Abstract

The ventilator-associated pneumonias (VAP) caused by Staphylococcus spp. affects patients in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) aggravating even more their scenario. This study intends to determinate virulence factors (genes of enterotoxins A, B, C and D) and the survey of the resistance gene mecA to oxacilin in Staphylococcus spp. in mechanically ventilated patients in Intensive Care Unities from the Hospital das Clinicas, Medical School of Botucatu, São Paulo, Brazil.
