Abstract

This undergraduate research project aims to study the methodology of dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR), which is a metal-enzyme system to catalyze reactions in the synthesis of asymmetric alcohols and amines. The chiral amines are important, among other factors, by the presence of the amino group in a large number of compounds with potential biological activity, which may interact with the central nervous system and act as antidepressants. The main objective of this proposal is to develop new heterogeneous palladium catalysts and study their catalytic activities in the reactions of racemization. We also intend to assess how many catalytic cycles the new catalysts can be used without any decrease in yields and enantiomeric excesses. These catalysts will be used for the Dynamic Kinetic Resolution of primary amines. From this proposal, we plan to initiate studies of DKR with simple substrates, using new nanocatalysts developed. Later, we will generalize the results to a variety of functionalized compounds. This work will contribute to subsequent application in the synthesis of substances with biological activity, which constitutes one of the major objectives of our research group.(AU)
