Abstract

The present project aim to develop optimization innovative techniques applied to aeronautical panels manufactured in composite material under simultaneous action of compressive and impact of small mass loads.The objective function is the maximization of the bending load of a panel with a certain number of plies under eventual degradation effects caused by impact loads. The project variables will be the stack lamination angles. The project data are: impact energy, impactor mass and radios and the number of laminas.Two approaches are proposed in order to characterize the panel degradation as a function of the impact load: (a) use a series of closed equations in order to estimate the peak load after the impact and the panel delamination initiation load; use these data to maximize the bending load before the panel delamination and (b) consider that the panel is entirely degraded on an area corresponding to the impactor radios with center on the impact point. The results of these optimizations will be compared in order to evaluate the best approach.The optimization will use an algorithm recently developed based on lamination parameters, a linear metamodel in terms of the laminations parameters and a data bank. This algorithm is already implemented and it was used to optimize similar problems.The project involves several innovative scientific contributions and has a great potential for practical applications on aeronautical projects of composites laminates.
