Abstract

This project aims to describe, from the perspective of Functional Grammar, the concessive clauses introduced by the conjunction "aunque" on data from spoken Iberian Spanish. Based on the layered structure proposed by Dik (1989, 1997) and considering the classification of concessive clauses proposed by Crevels (1998), we are interested in investigating whether the conjunction "aunque" can occur in all layers studied by the authors. Besides the layer that holds the concessive clause introduced by "aunque", other factors will be analyzed such as the position of the subordinate clause in relation to the main clause and the verbal mode of both clauses.
