Urban green areas are considered an important urban environmental quality indicator. Although its importance is recognized for promoting quality of life, several challenges are related to the study of this thematic. This project proposes a deeper thought about the usage effectiveness of urban green areas based on a study of the representation of urban green areas influence in Paulinia (SP), from the use of geotechnology to produce the maps and to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of different indicators. The methodology to be applied in this research is divided in different phases among them: literature review and deepening theoretical-conceptual understanding; production of a georeferenced database on the theme in Paulínia; execution of fieldwork in order to observe and record aspects of the situation and conditions of use of green areas, and interviews with key-individuals to collect specific information about the areas to be studied; elaboration of thematic maps and indices to be used in the analysis. From the obtained results intended to contribute for a better comprehension of complexity that the usage and study of these area involve, as well as to the development and improvement of new methodologies based on the use of geotecnologies for representation and analysis of urban green areas. Thereby, this research may contribute significantly to the development of effective public policies on land management in Paulínia and consolidation of Geography as a competent science to the development of studies related to urban green areas.
