Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of different treatments of the internal surface of the infrastructure and mechanical cycling on the fracture resistance of Y-TZP crowns. 100 pillars will be machined in epoxy resin which will receive crowns with infrastructure in Y-TZP coated with veneering ceramic. The samples will be allocate in 10 groups according to the factors "treatment of inner surface" (4 levels - no treatment, application of overglaze, sandblasting with alumina particles of 110 µm and sandblasting with alumina coated with silica particles of 30 µm) and "mechanical cycling" (two levels - with and without mechanical cycling), besides there will be utilized the factor "cement" (2 levels - resin cement and zinc phosphate cement) only for those groups with no treatment of the inner surface. There will be performed 3.0 x 106 cycles of cycling mechanical with load of 50 N and frequency of 4 Hz. The compression test of the crown will be conduct in a universal testing machine (EMIC) at a speed of 1 mm/min in an aqueous environment (37 ° C). The fractured crowns will be examined under a stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscope to verify the failure mode. The results will be statistically analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey test (± = 5%). The data obtained will be discussed in front of the pertinent literature. (AU)
