Abstract

This project intends to get the age of four obsidians and three muscovites micas through of Fission Track Method (FTM). These seven samples had been collected in the peruvian Andes, at Arequipa zone located southeast of Lima city, Peru. The results of these ages will enable us to study the volcanic activity in the peruvian Andes and the relation with tectonic activities that occurred between the Nazca plate and American South plates. To get the age of these samples three different methods will be used into FTM: i) External Detector Method; ii) Population Method and iii) Subtraction Method. Through of comparison of the ages obtained by these methods we could determine what of them is more appropriate to this set of samples, this way to use this routine in a bigger amount of samples that could be collected at the volcanic zone of studies. To improve the MTF knowledge will be done studies of volcanic glass characterization described by micro-Raman spectrometry.(AU)
