Abstract

Over the past decades, non timber forest products have been assessed as relevant means of promoting rural development and conservation of ecosystems, however the economic potential has been thoroughly discussed in the literature. The present study aims to evaluate the economic from community and family management of tropical forest seeds by the household production theory, involving social and environmental benefits, finance and characterization of the production model of rural communities in the region of the Xingu River in the Brazilian Amazon. The study communities consist of collectors of tropical forestry seeds from Rede de Sementes do Xingu, covering indigenous communities, farmers and nurserymen. The survey was conducted by means of semi-structures and monitoring of seed production in communities study. Thus, this proposed internship abroad is intended to analyze the data collected at the North Carolina State University to develop methodologies for modeling qualitative and quantitative data, using econometric evaluation, and benefits analysis model production of rural communities, based on the household production theory.
