The present study aims to evaluate the family and community management of forest seeds as an alternative socio-economic development forward to the analysis of the governance structure and social networks, as well as financial aspects and the social and environmental benefits provided to communities of collectors located in the headwaters of the Xingu River in Mato Grosso. The social network will be evaluated against community relations, organizational and production aspects (collection, processing and storage). The social and environmental benefits will be analyzed by means of the indicator of sustainable rural livelihoods involving the effects of seed production in forest natural, physical, social, financial and human factor. The financial aspects are analyzed in comparison with other productive activities adopted by the communities, using the criteria for economic evaluation NPV, IRR, benefit-cost ratio and opportunity cost. The governance structure will involve the legal control by the laws of forest seeds, as well as the political perception of the collectors from an approach oriented by actors.
