Abstract

Spherical inorganic nanoparticles have the potential to improve the impact resistance of polymer matrices. This phenomenon is possible through mechanisms of initiation of deformation of the polymer matrix after the occurrence of the process of detaching at the polymer-particle interface. Unlike the elastomeric particulate inorganic particles increase the impact resistance without decrease in stiffness of the polymer. Taking into account the current scientific and technological potential of these nanocomposites, this project aim to the development of nanocomposites PP/CaCO3 to improve the impact resistance of polypropylene homopolymer. Moreover, it is intended to investigate the influence of concentration of calcium carbonate and the influence of heat treatments on the final properties of the nanocomposite. (AU)
