Abstract

Considering the importance of sharing cultural and scientific experiences made possible by an exchange program, the research project in the country noted the need for this issue to be taken to a large research center, in a country that provides a large field of historical and empirical material that contributes, from the perspective of historicity, to what was proposed in the research project. Since Psychology is one of the scientific branches that will help with answers about the reasons for prejudice against Freemasonry and its symbolism, this research abroad will attempt to explore, through field research and in libraries, historical basis to show that Freemasonry and its symbolism have important historical roots. Through the investigation of religious-masonic symbolism in the structures of public monuments scattered across Portugal, and literature in libraries that contain historical documents that deal with how this fraternity was treated in the past, we will have one of the foundations for the scientific question proposed by the research, namely the reasons why this fraternity is considered hidden and perverse in nature.
