Abstract

The nanotherapeutic applied to cancer treatment is evolving rapidly and it is being implemented in order to solve the limitations of conventional therapeutic strategies. Such nanocomposites have demonstrated advantages over other carriers due to their nanoscale structure with unique properties, being uncoated or coated with different polymers, including nanoscale structures such as iron oxides. Its applications range from drug delivery to procedures involving hyperthermia. However, its use may be limited by causing alterations in cell morphology, mitochondrial function, plasma membrane permeability, or triggering cell apoptosis. The aim of this study is to investigate if the new nanoparticles synthesized from Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticle iron with replacement of ion Fe by other ions (CoFe2O4, NiFe2O4, and Fe2O4 Zn) show alterations in cellular internalization and biocompatibility compared to Fe3O4 nanoparticle, which has been used as a diagnostic tool and is being tested for treatment by hyperthermia against cancer. To ensure biocompatibility, the interaction of these nanoparticles with the cells will be investigated by MTT assay, Acridine Orange (apoptosis), and Prussian Blue staining. This work will be able to demonstrate the potential benefits of these new nanoparticles in future hyperthermia treatment of an important tumor type in order to arouse academic interest in this innovative and promising field.
