Abstract

In the last years, several modification surface techniques have been used in titanium alloys for biomedical applications. Corrosion resistance is one of the most relevant properties because it is related to ions release of metallic biomaterials. The purpose of this study will be to evaluate the corrosion resistance of Ti-7,5mO alloy after nanotubes growth in its surface. Ti-7,5Mo alloy will be obtained from pure elements in an arc melting furnace and cold worked by swagging. Anodic oxidation will be realized according to our previous studies. For corrosion resistance will be evaluated using cylinders with 15 mm in diameter and 1 cm2 of area. Electrochemical studies will be realized according to our studies for the Ti-Mo system. The potentiodynamic and chronoamperometric curves will be obtained by means of an EG&G PAR 283 potentiostat/galvanostat. Surfaces will be evaluated before and after electrochemical tests in scanning electron and optical microscopes.(AU)
