Abstract

The contemporary production of art yields to an extremely heated market and uses almost industrial processes to meet their demands. Major studios of soundtracks for films, TV, and advertising deliver dozens of soundtracks every year, and for this, a complex structure of the operation is needed, where many professionals perform many different functions to make the production more efficient. In this context are very common, therefore, the collaborative practice and the hiring of assistants by the composer. The intention of this work is to collect data about the collaborative production of soundtracks and discuss the issue of authorship in this compositional context, having as object of studies the studio Remote Control Productions, of the composer Hans Zimmer. Based on theoretical concepts suggested by the reference bibliography, we intend to analyze and debate the work of the composer, his collaborators, and assistants (professionals who in some cases perform musical works but aren't always credited by them) and the interference of the industrial mode of production in the artistic field.(AU)
