Abstract

Bamboo, presented as an alternative compared to traditional materials in construction systems has great unexplored potential. The use of bamboo in various construction elements represents a possible reduction in the use of other natural resources. The window frames in construction can be made from this material. The physical and mechanical characterization of frames made from lamination bamboo species Dendrocalamus giganteus is made in the study. The window frames will be produced in the laboratory of experimentation with bamboo UNESP / FEB with Fastbond adhesive of the low environmental impact. Will be performed the following tests: moisture test in bamboo laminas, glue lamina shear test; static bending the beams Glued Laminated Bamboo; horizontal load resistance test in the plane of the sheet, with one side immobilized; horizontal load resistance test in the plane of the sheet, with two side immobilized; bending on the window frames. The results allow the classification of the quality of the window frames and its potential use in residential. (AU)
