Abstract

The Experimental Campus of Itapeva (UNESP) has directed much of the efforts in research and academic extension in the development of new products and of production systems that accord both the market requirements and environmental issues, trying to optimize the use of forest resources, besides to contribute to the socio-economic development in Itapeva region, which has one of the worst human development index of São Paulo State. In this context, this paper seeks to develop a new product based on engineered wood materials, OSB-Oriented Strand Board, reinforced with bamboo. Through this project we intend to test the possible increase in stiffness and in mechanical strength of the composite - bamboo layers glued as reinforcement in OSB panels, allowing to expand their scope for industrial use, especially in the construction industry.
