Abstract

In this research we propose to question the ways in which the social movements, specifically the urban social movements, locate the resistance on the city`s significance and its subjects. Therefore, making use of the theoretical framework of the materialistic Discourse Analysis, we aim to understand what resisting means in this kind of movement and how it is related to the urban place itself and subjects who live in it. For the development of our work, we will focus specifically on the analisys of the "Desocupa" and "Ocupa Salvador" movements' discoursive functioning. Both movements are from Salvador city in Bahia and both movements are meant themselves as popular resistence movements. Thus, our corpus is made up from differents materials (texts, images, videos) produced under the above movements. (AU)
