Abstract

The fishes are the most diversified group in the vertebrates with more genetic variation. Nevertheless, aquatic environment has been destroyed due of various factors as riparian degradation, overfishing, pollution and environmental alterations due of multiple use of river system. This modified fragment aquatic ecosystem, interrupting migrations and defining the breeding areas of migratory fish, which are seriously compromising the entire aquatic biodiversity. Many these fishes have a big importance in the fishery, the necessity to invest in restocking rivers programs, it consist in a biodiversity conservation strategy that intention is reinstate local populations from the release of fingerlings. In Brazil, this practice is done without scientific support, being realized in the several time in the wrong way, that can decrease genetic variability of species, consequently decreasing the adapt fishes capacity in different environmental conditions. To exist a functional restocking is necessary the structural investigation of populations and after monitoring of individuals released in the wild. Nevertheless, the aim of this work is measures the genetic variability of genus Leporinus and Prochilodus species, in the Sapucaí-Mirim river, using the molecular microsatellite markers to describe genetically this populations and propose a correctly management.
