Abstract

Since mid-1990s, images presenting sexualities and interpersonal relationships that pose questions to the hegemonic imaginary of the relationships between the sexes have proliferated in cinemas from many parts around the world. This research project aims to investigate how these cinemas symbolically elaborate the problem of sexual diversity in relation to such imaginary, considering as sexual diversity images those of interpersonal relationships between heterosexuals that challenge the hegemonic imaginary and those frequently associated to the concept of sexual diversity and that present the so called homosexual "minorities".
