Abstract

In the actual society, increasingly globalized, it is visible the influence of media on human thought. It was being formed throughout the history, acquiring more and more functionality and importance in social relationships. But in this world "interconnected" there is also the presence of conflicts between states, and mainly within states. In those countries involved in conflicts perceives the use of media in favor of power. Thus, the peacebuilding process implies in the need to establishing a free and independent media. In the case of peace operations, the use of media assists in their success. Haiti, the poorest country in America, with a turbulent history, required the intervention of the UN to try to repair its serious problems of social and state disruption, through peacekeeping operation established in 2004 known as MINUSTAH. The research will explore the use of media by MINUSTAH analyzing the functionality of this mean to resolve the conflict and its capability to interfere in Haitian social relations. (AU)
