Abstract

Researches have demonstrated that ruthenium complexes present great specificity and selectivity by tumor cells than compounds based on platin. Two ruthenium complexes (NAMI and NAMI-A) completed clinic fase I, both with low level of side effects. Several ruthenium complexes have been synthesized and studied by our research group, in the Department of Chemistry/UFSCar, presenting significant citotoxity against different tumor cell lines. Some of these compounds shown specificity against different types of tumor cells and most of them presented citotoxity higher than that of the cisplanin.Based on promising results already obtained by our research group in the Medicinal Inorganic Chemistry area and having in mind that different compounds with different structures can activate different way of cellular signaling we decided to synthesize compounds containing aminoacids, biological molecules, with general formula [Ru(AA)(dppb)(4,4´-dimetylbipyridine)]PF6 [AA = aminoacids; dppb = 1,4-bis(difenilfosfine) butane], and to study genes expression of apoptose cellular cyclic, DNA repair and oxidative stress in carcinoma cells of human lang treated with these complexes.
