Abstract

The increasing life expectancy in Brazil is arising and people tend to remain retired for a longer period of life, making it necessary to conduct research to investigate the psychological issues related to retirement and the need for focused interventions in the orientation and building life plans post career. Many retirement-orientation program coordinators invite speakers to talk about issues that affect people's wellbeing in their post-retirement years, but the effects on participants' retirement plans are not assessed. This study is linked to a doctoral project that aims to identify the needs and skills of pre-retirees in relation to construction or redefinition of life plans for post-career and evaluate the effectiveness of a Retirement-Orientation Program that aims to develop and improve these skills. In order to successfully achieve the above objectives, this research project aims to: (1) organize and systematize the data collected throughout the Retirement-Orientation Program, (2) evaluate the quality of the development process of the intervention-program, (3) compare measures obtained pre-and post-intervention and (4) identify and use appropriate(s) technique(s) of qualitative data analysis, to understand the data collected and systematized after the intervention. Therefore, the purpose of this complementary project focus on methodological choice that will be used in research, mostly qualitative. This analysis will enable viewing paths for future professional work and studies regarding the use of intervention models and data analysis of a retirement-orientation intervention-program. (AU)
