Abstract
In this project, we propose to investigate photoluminescence, photocatalytic and bactericidal properties of (Ca1-xZnx)WO4 and (Ca1-xAg2x)WO4 (x = 0, 1, 2, and 3 %). These compounds will are synthesized from aqueous solutions of their salts (Na2WO4.2H2O, CaNO3.4H2O, ZnNO3, and AgNO3) which will be processed in a hydrothermal system assisted by microwave radiation. The crystals will be obtained and characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, infrared vibrational spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR). This post-doctoral project aims to synthesis, characterization and investigation of photoluminescent, photocatalytic and bactericidal properties of (Ca1-xZnx)WO4 and (Ca1-xAg2x)WO4, percentage (0, 1, 2 and 3% ) as function of Ag1+ and Zn2+ added in the matrix CaWO4. The optical properties will are investigated by electronic spectroscopy in the ultraviolet-visible and photoluminescence measurements. The photocatalytic activity of the crystals will be evaluated by degradation of the dye rhodamine B and methyl orange in aqueous solutions. The bactericidal activity of Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi will be investigated at infected accumulated water by conventional method of total count of dead bacteria on glass plates.
