Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the pull out resistance and removal torque of a new zirconia implant model. Forty cylindrical experimental single body implants will be obtained on zirconia doped with yttrium (10 mm diameter x 4 mm long), which will be compared to 40 Grade III titanium machined implants with the same dimensions and characteristics. The implants will screw into artificial bone (Nacional Ossos) with 2 mm in thickness simulating cortical bone and 20 mm simulating cancellous bone, using a digital torquemeter (TQ 680, Instrutherm) which quantify the torque (T) required to be completely deployed its root portion. The samples will be separated into groups (n = 10) according to the type of test that will be submitted (pull out test or removal torque) and half of the groups of each type of implant will be subjected to thermomechanical fatigue (ERIOS) simulating human mastication (1.2 million cycles with thermal cycling, with temperatures ranging between 5 and 55 ° C). For the pull out test all the specimens (implant/artificial bone) will be adapted into a mechanical testing machine (EMIC DL 2000) and a steel handle passing through the coronary part of the implant, with a 100 kgf load cell, 1.0 mm/min in speed will pull out the implant and the maximum pull out strength (PS) will be recorded for each implant. To quantify the removal torque, the digital torquemeter will quantify the higher the removal torque required (RT). After the tests, the values found will be evaluated statistically according to testing for normality. (AU)
