Abstract

Currently, there is a major breakthrough in research involving the generation of renewable energy such as solar fuels, fuels that are produced by the energy that comes from the Sun. The use of a photoelectrochemical (PEC) system for such shows to be a promising and effective way for generation of hydrogen and oxygen by breaking photocatalytic water molecules. The use of hematite shows to be an efficient process in view of its properties such as a high abundance, light absorption, low bandgap, low cost and is environmentally friendly, but due to the high rate of recombination of the pairs electron / hole, there is a need to incorporate good conductors materials such as graphene, which will facilitate the transport of photoexcited loads. The intention of this design is to synthesize composite hematite / reduced graphene oxide to assess their potential for hydrogen generation by water photolysis.
