Abstract

Research conducted with nurses/managers and professors proposed the absenteeism of nursing staff as a quality indicator of nursing staff management (Kurcgant, 2009). Therefore, the present study aims to measure the rates of absenteeism of nursing staff and observe the actions and decisions of nurse managers of the focused units facing this phenomenon. The project of qualitative-quantitative methodology is a descriptive-exploratory study and will be held in two public hospitals of the city of São Paulo, in five inpatient units of medical clinic. The period for data collection will be from October 2012 to October 2013. In the first phase of the project, the data about the absenteeism of nurses working in these units will be collected and organized into a spreadsheet in the Excel program and statistically analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences. In the second phase, the information relating to decisions and actions of nurses managers in front of the absenteeism of the nursing staff will be retrieved and the data will be analyzed according to the analysis of speech by (Minayo 2002).References:Kurcgant, P. ; Tronchin, D.
