Abstract

We have seen during our magister research in a northern Portuguese border village called Tourém. After we performed two periods of fieldwork, we are entering the stage of application for research abroad in order to be able to expand, deepen and share the studies that have been conducted since Portugal and more specifically from the Centro de Estudos Transdisciplinares para o Desenvolvimento (CETRAD), based at the University of Tras-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). The CETRAD has discussed the transformation of rural contexts since 1988 when they opened the Masters in Extension and Rural Development. Researchers like Xerardo Pereiro, Artur Christovão and Humberto Martins have been doing a theoretical discussion about the social transformation of rural contexts. As an extension (broad sense) of CETRAD the Ecomuseu do Barroso is headquartered in the city of Montalegre and Tourém has a seat that is installed in the Casa do Boi. The Ecomuseu do Barroso is the most visible sign in the village of patrimonialization process and new configurations of these rural contexts are part of everyday life in various villages in the region. Xerardo Pereiro addresses this issue since the 2000s, different partnerships and studies have been conducted by researchers from CETRAD about Ecomuseu and its projects more specific. For these reasons is that we present this proposal stage in CETRAD due to the knowledge accumulated by its researchers and the closeness they have with the theme discussed in our research. (AU)
