Abstract

The proposal of this study is to evaluate some characteristics of artificial teeth when submitted to different types of surface treatments. In this case, the upper central incisor (Classic Heraeus) will be abraded in different depths and submitted to polishment procedure: G1- Control group, no type of procedure will be made in artificial teeth; G3- teeth will be abraded in 1mm depth and then submitted to polishing by Trihawk kit; G5 - teeth will be abraded in 1mm depth and then submitted to polishing by Viking kit; G7- teeth will be abraded in 1mm depth and then submitted to polishing by sanding strips and sealed by Palaseal adhesive system. For another groups- H1,H3, H5 and H7 will be established the same sequence applied to the above groups but the amount of abraded will be 2mm. Groups 2, 4, 6, and 8 will suffer the same treatment as their predecessors, but without undergoing thermal cycling The standardization of abraded will be made by use of a metallic device where teeth are included into acrylic resin and coupled to a polishing machine. The specimens will be submitted to rugosity (Ra), microhardness test, and profilometry. Values obtained will be submitted to more appropriate statistical analyses.(AU)
