Abstract

Aim: to evaluate the influence of different solvents (ethanol, acetone, THF and DMSO) in the physic-chemical properties of experimental dental adhesives. Methods: two model resin blends (conventional and self-etch) will be prepared and afterwards 10w% of each solvent (ethanol, acetone, THF, DMSO) will be added. In order to determine the flexural modulus, bar-shaped specimens (n=8) with 1mm x 1mm x 7mm will be made and subjected to three-point bending test in an universal testing machine. The degree of conversion will be assessed by using a FTIR spectrophotometer with three evaluations for each experimental solution. The water sorption and solubility will be determined by preparing disc-shaped specimens for each experimental adhesive (n=6) following the specifications of ISO 4049:2009 except by specimen dimensions. All results will be analyzed with two-way ANOVA (resin blend and solvent) and Tukey's test (p<0.05). (AU)
