Abstract

In 2011, the banana Ribeira Valley, São Paulo, was affected by the occurrence of very low temperatures, which strongly hindered the marketing of fruits produced in winter. Whereas the banana is a fruit very sensitive to chilling injury and that protection is a bunch of technologies that can help to protect the fruit in the field, this study aims to evaluate different materials in the prevention of chilling injury in bananas Nanica 'Grand Naine' cv. Williams, based on determinations of the level of cold injury, characteristics of the fruit peel color, firmness, soluble solids, pH, titratable acidity and nutrient content in the bark. (AU)
