Abstract

The bagging of banana bunches has often been done in the Ribeira Valley for preventing damage caused by the contact of the leaves, hail and attack of pests and diseases. In addition to promoting the production of fruits with better color, higher brightness and smoothness of the peel. The most commonly used type of bag is the worldwide low density polyethylene blue. More recently it has been used for some low density polyethylene bag properties, bifenthrin impregnated with the insecticide to control thrips damage in the fruit peel. It is of great interest in the production chain of the banana materials development bagging with alternative additives, able to avoid disease problems and reduce problems related to sunburn and prevent contamination of workers involved in the cultivation and the environment. In addition, materials to be used in newly issued inflorescence (closed bracts) can increase the growth of the fruit by increasing the temperature still in the cell division stage and even promote more appropriate peel color, because they provide physical protection early on. Therefore, prior to the adoption on a commercial scale, the determination of the real benefits of its use due to the higher cost of materials and need for additional handling operation it is convenient, which raises the cost of labor. Accordingly, the present study aims to compare the effect of bagging the bunch of banana 'Nanica' in the early stage, with low-density impregnated with natural insecticide polyethylene, compared to low density polyethylene (conventional protective material), inserted after the complete differentiation of the fruits, followed by spraying the bunch with chemical insecticide in relation to production, inflorescence emergency time to harvest, pell color green fruit and ripe, phytosanitary problems (diseases and thrips) and losses due sunburn and economic viability.
