Abstract

In the Ribeira Vale, it is being adopted banana bunch of protection with polyethylene bag impregnated with insecticide to control thrips. For greater efficiency, their placement must be held before the opening of inflorescence bracts, while the conventionally bagging is done in the area when all bunches and fruits are already the bracts removed, followed by the application of the insecticide by spraying. Early bagging can also protect the young fruit against adverse environmental conditions and promote the temperature rise in the bunch at the time of establishment of the total number of fruit cell. These two effects may be desirable to improve the coloring of the fruit and its final size, which are characteristics that define the quality and govern the preference by the consumer. Therefore, this project aims to compare the bagging with polyethylene impregnated with insecticide to polyethylene and spraying with insecticide in the production and quality of fruit (size, color and defects). This will done bagging bunches of varieties 'Prat' and 'Nanica' at different times of the year: September, December, March and June. The treatments will be conventional bagging (late) with polyethylene bag placed in the bunch after the complete liberation of the fruits of the bracts, about three weeks after the issue of the inflorescence, and early bagging, using polyethylene bag impregnated with insecticide, placed before the opening of the inflorescence bracts. The experimental design will be completely randomized in a factorial 4 x 2 (four times and two times bagging/bagging materials), with five repetitions. At harvest, will be determining the bunch weight, the weight of the fourth hand, number, length and diameter of the fruits of the fourth hand, the thermal time to bloom, the chlorophyll content of the peel and the characteristic peel color. Then the fourth hand will be stored at 25°C until the ripening of fruits. During this period, every two days, the fruits of peel color. They will be determined damages of any kind, including those caused by thrips. (AU)
