Abstract

The aim of this project is to grasp and comprehend Ovide Decroly's ideas and how they were appropriate, and transformed inside the New School Movement in Brazil. In order to achieve the aims of this project, our starting point is to be able to explain how and when Decroly's ideas came to Brazil based on this investigation. We will also attempt to explain the socio-cultural historical conditions of their arrival. In addition, we would like to understand what role these ideas played in Brazilian society and what transformations and changes took place or not. Therefore, we plan to investigate the period from 1901 to 1962. This time was chosen because in Brazil this period is when New School Ideas came into being in the educational scenario and it marks the open of Decrolys school and the time of his writings. This period in Brazil is highlighted by its enormous amounts of publishing materials which will enrich this research. We will work with journals to achieve our aim, published between 1901 and 1962, together with Decroly's works and the translation of his works into Portuguese. The methodology is based on Novoa and Depaepe works. (AU)
