Abstract

This post doctoral project aims to investigate what the meeting points and detours among essay, ignorance and unworking, are when it comes to the relation between the body-in-class and the body-on-stage, in actions towards approaching a text. The investigation searches for structuring principles originated in the study of these three themes - essay, ignorance (according to Joseph Jacotot/Jacques Rancière) and unworking - with a view to analyzing the composition of a body, a gesture and an ethics which we name essayistic. The sources for the analysis shall be, at first, a bibliography that moves in the landscape in-between its major issues; next, a selection from the essayistic filmography by filmmaker Agnès Varda (linked to the theme essay); thirdly, the filmography of educator Fernand Deligny, as well as his written production (which we link to the theme unworking); and, finally, some of our Ensaios ignorantes (Ignorant essays), to be carried out between 2013 and 2014 (the linked themes yet to be considered).
